Army Body Fat Calculator:
The Army introduced an updated Army Body Fat Circumference-Based Tape Test and an accompanying supplementary body fat assessment in June 2023. This enhanced calculator delivers a more precise evaluation of body fat levels.
In case a soldier does not pass the initial test:
A Soldier who does not meet the requirements of the initial one-site tape test has the option to utilize the previous multiple-site body fat tape test as their subsequent confirmation tape test. This alternative method will be valid for a duration of 12 months from the issuance date of Army Directive 2023-11. Following this 12-month period, the sole approved circumference-based tape method is the one-site tape test.
In the event that a Soldier doesn’t meet the criteria for the tape test in either version, they have the option to seek an additional body fat assessment using the DXA, InBody 770, or The Bod Pod®, if these assessment methods are reasonably accessible. If a Soldier decides not to pursue an extra body fat assessment or does not pass the supplementary assessment, they will be directed to participate in the Army Weight Control Program.
